Fruit Fly Egg

This is an egg of a fruit fly. Fruit flies, or vinegar flies, lay their eggs in rotting fruit or other soft vegetable matter, and stick them on with a kind of glue. This egg was on a rotting stem of a plant.

This egg is about a quarter of a millimeter across at its widest point.
