Mite Head I don't know what kind of mite this is, but I think it's kind of cute. The pink wingy-thingys sticking out of its front end (cephalothorax) are sensory setae. They are where you might think eyes would be, but it doesn't have eyes. Usually the most important sensory structure is placed right up front in an animal. For us it's the eyes, but for this arachnid it's these setae. |
